I purchased 4U2 gel eye liner probably last year as Loreal gel eye liner was gaining a lot of popularity. I could not fathom spending Rs. 1000 above for an eye liner at that time but luckily I found something that was light on the pocket and gave me the opportunity to give gel eye liners a try as to what the experience is like.

4U2 gel liner comes in a long rectangular carboard box containing the gel liner in a small jar along with a brush for the application of the eye liner. The front of the box is transparent and you can see the jar and the brush within the box. The box is egg plant colored and I have always liked egg plant color which tempted me all the more to go for this gel liner. I kind of like the packaging of the liner, it comes in a tinted plastic jar with an egg plant colored screw cap.

When opened fresh the gel liner is very smooth and looks neat. The most common problem I have heard with gel liners is, they dry pretty quick. My major concern has also been, how long will it last me? Given, that I use eye liner every single day religiously and expose it to air. Did it dry up on me? Keep on reading to find out...

Coming to my experience of the product I'd say I love it, right from the packaging to the performance, I admire this gel liner. Why? lets start off with a few reasons. Firstly its very handy and travel friendly. You can simply pop it into your bag and carry it anywhere with you. The only drawback here is the practicality of the brush. If you wont clean the brush its definitely going to smudge your handbag or cosmetics case black all over which is a No No for me.

Next the gel liner is very smooth. Its neither dry or cakey nor is it runny or liquid like. Its perfect like a thick gel with a certain amount of smoothness and fluidness to smoothly glide over the lids. I think its the major reason it has not dried up so quick. I am now sure it will last me quite sometime coz it should have dried by now if it had to due to the exposure it gets everyday by me.

The pigmentation is great. Its black, quite black and is buildable for more intense black look. The good part is, its water proof. It wont budge with a few splashes of water. You seriously need to rub your eyes if you want to wash it off without using an eye makeup remover. However it kind of smudges a little over my crease area due to perspiration over the lids which is a negative point for me. Other than that it lasts good on me for 6 hours or more straight.

Coming to the brush applicator that comes along with the gel liner, its a good brush but a tad bit harsh. You need to align it at a certain angle to get a smooth painless application. If the alignment is disoriented the brush might irritate a bit over the eyes due to its hard bristles. Other than that I'd say its a good solid brush for gel liner application with the right cut to the bristles.

Below are the swatches of the gel liner with and without flash light.
