|Review|: Catrice Welcome to Las Vegas eye shadow quad in Curtain Up! - Limited Edition

Hi Beauties!

I love eye shadow palettes. The smaller they are, more the attracted I am to them. I just love hoarding small, portable eye shadow palettes as much as I can. There, I said it!!! So when the limited edition for Catrice hit stores and I saw the range, I knew I had to get something for myself. The word "Limited Edition" is an invitation itself for wallet destruction. Mark my word ladies, I speak nothing but the truth. Hasn't it happened to the best of us so many times and keeps on happening over and over??? :o Well, here I am today, reviewing the Catrice Welcome to Las Vegas limited edition eye shadow quad. Read further to find out more about this quad.

The quad comes in a very basic transparent plasitc palette. The quad sure looks appealing with the color variants it has but once you hold the palette you realize, its quite light weight and does not even have a click close lock. I would never think of carrying it anywhere in my handbag for the fear it might open and mess up everything. Moreover the colors are quite crumbly and loosely set in the pots. In the photos below you can notice the crumbled corner of the dark blue eye shadow. Another palette I had picked up before this on the counter was totally broken. In short the packaging isn't great and the powder has been set negligently in the pots.

Black
The black one contains golden glitter in it. Its black and pigmented but gives out a glittery glow in golden which adds to the beauty of the color. The pretty Las Vegas written all four shades is sadly just a spray which disappears once the colors are swatched.

Dark blue

Purple

Golden highlighter

Coming to the swatches of the eye shadows, I am disappointed with the pigmentation as well. The black one on the upper left corner is the most pigmented one of the lot while the rest could have used more pigmentation. The purple one in the lower left corner is the suckiest one. No matter how hard I tried the color wouldn't show up. Blue one on the upper right corner and the golden highlighter are modestly pigmented. The swatches below have been shot without using an eye primer.

The remaining two swatches have been shot by applying an eye primer on my hand and then swatching the eye shadows. The pigmentation improves a notch with the help of an eye primer however the purple one still remained unaffected. I am very pissed at the purple one frankly. There is nothing I can do more.

My Experience:

The only reason I purchased this quad was, one, it was a limited edition, two, I liked the dark blue and purple color. They kind of seemed to be the perfect party colors for creating smokey eyes with the touch of highlighter in the tear duct area. However, I am thoroughly disappointed with the performance of this quad. The colors are not pigmented at all with the exception of black one, that being pigmented has a massive fall out problem. The chunky golden glitter adds a voo voo glam in it which personally, I liked. The dark blue one is okay, purple one is a total disaapointment and the highlighter I seem to like. The eye shadows last good for 3-4 hours and then they start to crease. So I am also not impressed with the lasting power of these eye shadows. Using an eye primer would notch up the performance a bit but thats doesn't seem very satisfying either.

  2. Thanks for the review , i liked how catrice eye shadow palettes looked and wanted to buy and try out an eye shadow quad myself but i will stay away from them now. It seems like most of the catrice eye shadows are not that pigmented . However have you seen the nude palette though , i read one review saying that it was really pigmented (she had a very pale skin) and another one that they were of average quality.
