|Book Review|: Made Men # 3, Chloe by Sarah Brianne

Hello all,

Chloe’s scarred face makes her the school’s freak.
Her reflection is a constant reminder of how she got them.
The man who scarred her haunts not only her dreams, but also her reality.
Some nightmares don’t go away in the daylight.

Two men stand up to save her from the nightmares.
Both are men of the mafia, waiting behind a door she doesn’t want to open.
Amo the soldier and Lucca the underboss.
The Beast and the Boogieman.

Who will she choose?

So I have been waiting for this book to release for like forever and I had been hoping that it would match my expectations like the first 2 installments. Did it? Read my blog post to find out more about this much awaited book.

I was introduced to Adult Mafia books last year, thanks to my browsing skills on Goodreads. Since then I have tried to get my hands on all romantic mafia books. I wouldn't go into the nitty gritty of right and wrong and being in mafia and killers and all that. These are just books which are meant to be enjoyed and I greatly do.

So the Made Men series revolves around a bunch of 17 year old kids who live in city run by an Italian mafia group. The main characters are:

Nero
Vincent
Amo
Lucca
Dante
Maria
Leo
Elle
Chloe
Lake
Cassandra
Sebastian

Nero, Vincent and Amo are three best friends and their dads work in the Mafia. Nero's father is the boss, Lucca, his brother and Maria, sister and Leo is the youngest brother. Elle and Chloe study in the same school as them and Lake is one year junior to them and Vincent's sister's best friend.

Coming to the latest installment Chloe which happens to be the 3 book in the series, its about a girl who happens to be Mayor's daughter and got kidnapped by a sinister guy who tortured her brutally and scarred not only her body but her soul. She is a damaged being who can't stand any sort of physical contact no matter how small it maybe after her gruesome kidnapping. School can be a bitch in such a situation especially when you study in a rich kids school. The bullying is out of hand. There are the twins by the name of Cassandra and Sebastian who belong to one of the richest families in the city and are their parents provide huge donations to the school which makes the principal and teachers ignore the existence of bullying. Elle is harassed since freshman year and now Chloe with her scarred face is the new "Freak" in school.

Elle who has endured extreme bullying in the hands of Cassandra and Sebestian is Chloe's BFF and always shields her from school bullying and takes the pain upon herself. You will need to read the first 2 installments to get a better understanding how the Mafia teens, Nero, Vincent and Amo, the trio stepped into Chloe and Elle's lives. Nero, Vincent and Amo take it upon themselves to bring a stop to this bullying and in the process Nero falls for Elle (Book 1). Amo is reserved and a dark guy, strongly built and huge like a beast who happens to be sneaking into Chloe's life slowly. Lucca, Nero's brother has his eyes set on Chloe for some reason. He is scary as hell being the under boss but he finds himself attracted to Chloe nonetheless. All men in this series are sexy as hell and their physical descriptions want to tear off their clothes to witness it for yourself.

What I did not like about the book was the fact that almost 60% of it was redundant. It had most details from the first book which were repeated in nearly the same manner making the book boring. Had it been more from Chloe's perspective instead of the same old event narration it might have been more interesting. The first half drags like that while I kept hoping for new details. Other than home life of Chloe there isn't much of anything new. The last quarter of the book seemed to have new events but it was really abrupt like I was still reading what was mentioned in book 1 and boom suddenly Chloe is in a club on her birthday and her friends are asking her to dance? What happened in between and how did it reach to that point where Amo and Chloe became that comfortable? It seems the book was in a constant turmoil what to do with remaining stuck in the last 2 installments and adding bits and pieces of present here and there. The book literally dragged for me and then ended up in a cliffhanger.

Although I am swinging for team Lucca but reading Chloe makes me want to switch to team Amo just because Amo is willing to become a better man for Chloe's sake while Lucca wants Chloe to see for who he really is - evil, chilling and a devil. The cliffhanger though steers into Lucca's direction (spoiler) but lets wait and see what Sarah Brianne has thought for Chloe and her readers. I love the fact that its a love triangle. I adore love triangles that bring on alpha male characteristics, spark jealousies and possessiveness.

This book lacked intimate scenes with no steamy sex or make out sessions. As much as I waited for this book its not going into my Read again shelf.
