The Body Shop Spa of the world Atlantic seaweed cream

Few years back, The Body Shop launched their specialized skin care range, more of a spa range consisting of different categories like, revitalizing, hydrating and firming, catering to different skin types. This range contains variety of products providing at home spa solutions. The product I am reviewing today is their Atlantic seaweed cream from their revitalizing range.

The Body Shop revitalizing body gel-cream in Atlantic seaweed

Here is what The Body Shop has to say about this product:

On the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, women have always believed in the reviving power of the sea and its algae to revitalise their body. Full of oceanic minerals, Atlantic seaweed is infused in a water-breaking cream that instantly refreshes skin in hydration. Use this invigorating gel-cream as part of our revitalising ritual when you want your body and mind to feel instantly re-energised.

Swatch - The Body Shop revitalizing body gel-cream in Atantic Seaweed

Packaging:

The product comes in a brown colored plastic tub with a dark matte screw cap. Product quantity is 350 ml. From what I have seen, only one sized jar is available in Pakistan while in other countries there are smaller size variations available too. These tubs are gigantic and not travel friendly at all. However, these can nicely be used later to store tid bids and other stuff later.

Texture:

The texture of the product is cream based with infusion of gel. It has an air whipped cream like feel with gel like feel surrounding the cream. You can see the texture from above picture. The cream has an off white color, blends easily into the skin with minimal effort.

My Experience:

I have mixed relationship with The Body Shop products, like a hot and cold relationship. I admire their cruelty free, community support approach and also product quality. However some products may not work for me and the price is a bit steep to be taking risks by investing in expensive yet non useful product. Body Shop has given a very poetic description of the product, it takes you to Atlantic coast. However the tall and broad claims of relieving tired legs and hydrating skin fell short on me. Its quick absorbent no doubt but its not hydrating at all. For people with dry skin, this product is a dud. I used it in Winters and my skin would become flakey again after an hour or two. I used it twice a day to judge its performance and the results remained the same. I also used it in Summers and it fared well in keeping my skin hydrated during the initial days of my pregnancy.

This cream in my opinion will only benefit those, who have normal to combination type skin. I have finished the whole jar and I am pretty sure, I wont be investing in this product again as it failed to deliver on me.
